Panasonic AW-UE80KPJ
Overview
Panasonic AW-UE80KPJ
4K Professional PTZ Camera (black)
The AW-UE80KPJ is a PTZ camera suitable for capturing the natural facial expressions of actors/performers and for recording events without spoiling the ambiance. The dome-shaped design minimizes "the feeling of being recorded on video" while the new direct-drive motor produces a very quiet operating sound so it won't disturb the production activities or spoil the ambiance.
The AW-UE80KPJ now has the ability to track one-person at a time within the frame, without an external PC or server. This auto-tracking feature has quick response times and accurate human body recognition — perfect for corporations, colleges/universities and other facilities that rely on presentation spaces. Panasonic Connect also offers external, software-based auto-tracking, ideal for presentations with multiple people and cameras.
The camera offers high-image-quality 4K/60p resolution, wide 74.1° angle, and optical zoom with up to 24x magnification to achieve superb video image quality. The AW-UE80KPJ also offers excellent stability and security during video streaming so it can be used for any type of video production. From the production of a reality show to the recording of an internal business or educational event, the top-of-the-line standard model, AW-UE80KPJ, can be used for diverse applications.
Note: The AW-UE80KPJ is a black camera. For a white model, see the AW-UE80WPJ.

- Supports a wide variety of IP transmission protocols, including high bandwidth NDI, NDI|HX, and SRT
- Supports 4K 50p/60p shooting
- Includes a wide-angle lens with a 74.1° field of view and 24x optical zoom
- Supports FreeD for building AR/VR systems
- New Direct Drive System for improved responsiveness and quietness
- Still image JPEG capability
Features
- Built-in auto-tracking for one-person presentations on-the-fly: The AW-UE80KPJ features auto-tracking built into the camera. This means no additional hardware or software is needed to keep one subject in frame. This technology uses body recognition to keep someone on camera. This is an easy and effortless way for corporations and higher education facilities to provide remote or hybrid meetings with little setup.
- Optical 24x Zoom & 74.1° Horizontal Wide Angle Lens: Adding "iZoom" to the AW-UE80KPJ's exceptional 24x optical zoom maintains high resolution while enabling ultra-high resolution 36x zoom in HD mode. This enables distant subjects to be captured clearly. Furthermore, 74.1° horizontal wide-angle shooting allows you to capture the entire area with one camera, even when installation space is limited.
- Versatile Video Outputs for a Range of Video Productions: The AW-UE80KPJ supports three popular output interfaces, 3G-SDI, HDMI and IP, providing you with a range of options for current camera installations, while also preparing you for future video workflows.
- Multiple Control Options for Small or Large Scale Production: The AW-UE80KPJ can be controlled via the web browser when connected to the network, allowing for quick and easy camera movement, preset access, and image adjustments. Additionally, the camera can be controlled using the AW-RM50 IR remote control and the AW-RP150 / AW-RP60 hardware-based camera controllers. These control choices make it easy to integrate the AW-UE80KPJ into your video production workflow. An IP connection from the AW-RP150 Remote Camera Controller through a HUB (switching hub) enables control of up to 200 x AW-UE80 cameras. Furthermore, a single AW-UE80 unit can be controlled from up to 5 x AW-RP150 units.
- Live AR/VR Video Production via FreeD Protocol: To incorporate realistic VR (virtual reality) or AR (augmented reality) studio sets in your live productions, accurate camera positioning data is imperative. The AW-UE80KPJ features the FreeD protocol, which gives you the option to output Pan / Tilt / Zoom / Iris information via Serial (RS 422) and IP (UDP) directly from the camera to your AR/VR tracking system.
- Flexible Installation & Mounting Options: Weighing only 4.4 lb, the AW-UE80KPJ is lightweight and compact enough for easy permanent or portable installs. It’s equipped with a turn lock mechanism for easy installation, and comes standard with a safety cable for extra security and peace of mind.
- Ceiling Mount: A twist-lock ceiling mount is included as a standard accessory.
- Tripod Mount: The AW-UE80KPJ is also equipped with a 1/4-20 tripod mounting screw receptacle and a safety lanyard for use with many mounting and grip systems.
- Wall Mount: An optional heavy-duty wall mount is available in either black (FEC-40WMK) or white (FEC-40WMW).
- Pole Mount: Easily mount the AW-UE80KPJ to an A/V ceiling extension pole by pairing the FEC-40WM wall mount with the FEC-PA1 adapter.
- Fresh New Web Interface: Camera IP image output, settings, and control can be performed using a web browser on a computer connected via an IP network. In addition to PCs and Macs, iPads, iPhones, Androids and other mobile devices can be used for operation. This pursuit of easy-to-use interfaces enables smooth camera control from remote locations.
- Supports SRT for Secure and Reliable Video Streaming: The AW-UE80KPJ supports SRT, a next generation video transport protocol that provides robust security and works well even with an unstable network environment. This prevents transmission interruptions during program production or event recording, thus assuring stable and reliable video streaming. This protocol can prevent risks such as information leakage, making it safe to use for any video content.
- Smooth Camera Movement & Quiet Operation with Direct Drive System: The operating sound is quiet so there is no need to worry about the camera sound spoiling the ambience, even when producing a reality show or recording an event. The new direct-drive motor operates quietly during panning (horizontal movement) and tilting (vertical movement) so as not to disturb the recording of crucial scenes. What’s more, the new direct-drive motor stops precisely at a desired position, and returns exactly to a preset position when the preset function is used for accurate camerawork. It moves smoothly to accurately follow subjects moving at different speeds and allows speed setting.
- Single Cable Installation with PoE++: With PoE++ technology, the AW-UE80KPJ offers an optimal level of installation flexibility, providing not just power to the camera, but also enabling camera control and audio/video output, all via a single LAN cable. Using PoE++ with the AW-UE80KPJ camera simplifies cable runs, decreases overall installation costs, and in some cases eliminates the need for having a dedicated electrician onsite for the install.

Notes
*1: In normal use within the ambient operating temperature range, the PoE+ switch will also work. However, the camera may stop operating or the power supply may be stopped depending on the specifications of the PoE+ switch when the power load exceeds the PoE+ specified power when abnormalities such as pan/tilt is stopped due to external forces or when the ambient temperature has changed significantly. Operation with PoE+ switch is not guaranteed, so please check the operation in advance under the condition of use, and judge the use by yourself.
*2: Discontinued Model
*3: Will be supported in the future
*4: Can be set in 1 dB step increments.
*5: Cannot be set when the format is 2160/29.97p, 2160/23.98p, 2160/24p, 2160/25p, 1080/29.97p, 1080/23.98p (59.94i), 1080/29.97PsF, 1080/23.98PsF, 1080/25p, 1080/25PsF.
*6: STP (Shielded Twisted Pair) is recommended.
*7: Use Category 6 or higher when transmitting 4K video.
*8: To ensure safety, the unit must be secured using the mount bracket supplied.
